There is no Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes, right? Well, I am not a big fan of white potatoes, as they are empty carbs with no nutritional value. On top of this they are fast absorbing carbs, what means it takes no time for the carbohydrates to break down to sugars and get into your blood stream. This will cause a sugar high (and shortly a crash) just like eating any candy. We don’t need that right? We might get into a food coma just from the sheer amount of food anyways 🙂
